8:00 a.m. Cook sites & registration open for contestants
11:00 a.m. Meat can be inspected any time after this time.
5:00 p.m. COOKS’ MEETING
The cooks’ meeting will be held in the same location as last year – the Iola
Riverside Park Community Building next to the Baby Barn. At this time, we will go over the rules for all categories, answer any questions, hand out containers for Saturday’s contest, and listen to the KCBS Cook’s CD.
TACO BAR
Immediately following the cooks meeting, the cooking teams will be invited to help themselves to the taco bar provided by El Charro’s Mexican Restaurant, courtesy of Iola Rotary Club.
11:00 p.m. Quiet Hours begin exclusive of the Allen County Fair’s Rodeo
Saturday July 28th
7:30 a.m. until 8:30 a.m.
All Teams are welcome to come and enjoy biscuits and gravy, coffee and juice at the Iola Riverside Park Community Building sponsored by the Iola Rotary Club and donuts from Daylight Donuts, at no cost to the cooks and their families.
8:30 a.m. The Iola Riverside Park Community building closes to prepare for Judging.
11:00 a.m. Judges’ Meeting in the Iola Riverside Park Community Building.
CONTEST JUDGING BEGINS
As a KCBS sanctioned event, all KCBS rules apply.
Turn-in will be at the east door of Iola Riverside Park Community Building.
12:00 Noon Judging: CHICKEN entries
12:30 p.m. Judging: PORK RIBS entries
1:00 p.m. Judging: PORK entries
1:30 p.m. Judging: BRISKET entries
2:00 p.m. Judging: DESSERT entries
2:30 p.m. AWARDS MEETING

QuietHours and Security
Quiet Hours will be from 11 P.M.
Friday evening until 7 A.M. Saturday morning.
If you have a problem during Quiet Hours regarding excessive noise, you are to contact the
following persons in this order:
Iola Police Department or Allen
County Sheriff’s 620-365-1437
Dispatch will contact officer on duty
If the problem is not resolved, contact the Event Organizer, Tom Brigham at 620-365-9740
Any and all problems, regardless of cause, must be reported to the KCBS Reps and possibly the
KCBS office. We certainly do not anticipate any problems, but nonetheless, if you have issues
during quiet hours, we need to know about them!

SMOKIN HOT CARS & BBQ *Dessert Category Rules
1. GENERAL INFORMATION
A. Each cooker provides six (6) portions for presentation to the judges.
B. Turn‐In is
Dessert
1. Teams can use what they make the entry in/on, as their turn‐in container.
2. The team’s entry number MUST be included with the dessert category entry at turn‐in.
3. Contest entries without a team entry number will not be judged.
C. There is No Garnish Rule.
D. Contest entries need to be prepared on‐site.
2. JUDGING
A. Each contest entry is judged on: (1) Appearance (2) Taste (3)Tenderness.
B. Participants are judged using a number system.
1. The low end of the number system is 2 and the upper end of the number system is 9.
C. Each participant’s score is tallied and totaled.
D. The top 4 places are determined by the top scores.
3. PRIZE MONEY LIST
A. All dessert money collected is awarded to the top 4 places.
1. 1st Place 40%
2. 2nd Place 30%
3. 3rd Place 20%
4. 4th Place 10%
B. Prize money will be awarded during the Awards Ceremony on Saturday.
